The Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive Unveiled
The guys at Mercedes claim that it’s the most powerful electric vehicle in the world right now. There’s no combustion engine under the hood and the wheels are driven by four synchronous electric motors which make this supercar a 4 wheel drive. All these motors have a combined power output of 740 horsepower and 999 Nm of torque which is 177 HP and 351 Nm more than the regular SLS AMG.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive can sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds and it could reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph or 250 km/h. The energy comes from a massive 60 kWh battery pack which weights 1,208 pounds (548 kg) installed withing the transmission tunnel and behind the front seats.
The car will be launched on the market next year and will have a starting price of 416,500 EUR or around $539,000. Pretty damn expensive for an electric car that you don’t even know how far it can take you, right?
