The Detroit Red Wings are on a roll at home

The Detroit Red Wings are at the top of their division with an awesome 37-17-2 record. This team is looking really dangerous this season, and they showed their stuff on Friday with a 2-1 win in the shootout against the Anaheim Ducks. What makes this win extra impressive? It’s the 19th home game in a row for the Red wings who are absolutely on fire.

Todd Bertuzzi and Pavel Datsyuk were heroes with the shootout goals which helped them topple the 19th team at home in a row. This almost ties the standing record for most consecutive home game victories in a row. This record has been held since the 1970-1970 NHL hockey season by the Boston Bruins- the Red Wings will have the opportunity to get the record all tied up soon against the Flyers on the second of Feb. Knock on wood for the Red wings.

Detroit has been dominant in not only 3 periods this season, but have consistently come out on top in shootouts. They have won a solid 87.5% of their shootout battles, which has added up to 7 games won in the shootout. Those extra points have helped them gain a 3 point lead on Western Division rivals the second placed Vancouver Canucks.

The Red wings are a force to be reckoned with in the Western Division and all across the National Hockey League. They are a consistently great team who have the chance of tying up a long standing record on Sunday against the Flyers
