The Crew – an open-world multiplayer racing game for next-generation consoles from Ubisoft Reflections (Driver: San Francisco) and Ivory Tower (the people behind Need for Speed, V-Rally and Test Drive Unlimited) – was unveiled at Ubisoft‘s E3 conference.
Ubisoft says it’s using next-gen hardware with The Crew to “change the status quo” of driving games. The Crew will feature an online persistent representation of the US – full map, as Google can prove it, with all of God and man made structures (mountains, hills, cities, suburbs, circuits, off-road) – in which players infiltrate criminal organizations in individual cities. Ubisoft says the online persistent world “blurs the lines” between the game’s single-player, multiplayer, and co-op.
Ubisoft also detailed the game’s customization engine. Players can strip down and build up their vehicles however they wish. Gamers can also customize their cars directly from tablets, via a specially designed app for iOS and Android, without having to start up the game. Those changes then will immediately appear the next time players hop into The Crew; a demo is available for your viewing below.
The Crew will be available in the beginning of 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One şi PC.
