Have you ever driven a Caterham?! They’re loads of fun; the range-topping R500 model is sweet. But it seems the guys are going for perfection, which is why Caterham has developed the new 620R, set to make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The 620R is powered by a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine tweaked to output 311 bhp (232 kW) at 7,700 rpm and 219 lb-ft (296 Nm) of torque at 7,350 rpm. This setup will enable the 620R to complete the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in 2.79 seconds. Impressive!
This bad boy comes with a gunmetal chassis and professional racing cooling system, together with a new nose cone modified to improve airflow; it surely looks bad a$$. The Caterham 620R has a De Dion rear suspension and sits on 13-inch alloys shod in Avon ZZR tires. There are some changes on the inside, also; it has gained “performance-focused instrumentation and ergonomic switchgear”, along with a Q/R race-spec steering wheel, race seats and carbon fiber interior panels.
You like it?! It;s supposed to go on sale later this year at a starting price of 49,995 GBP (58,000 EUR / 74,600 USD) which makes it 7,500 GBP (8,700 EUR / 11,200 USD) more expensive than the R500. But, it’s quite obvious it’s worth the money.. Daaamn!
