After nine spectacular seasons, three trips to the NBA finals and that decision that turned almost everyone against him, LeBron James finally has a title and the NBA Finals MVP. Thursday night, the three time MVP came up big when it mattered most to earn the first ring, as the Miami Heat rolled over the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106 to close the finals in five games.
Even though I wanted the Thunder to win it all, the ‘MVP of everything’ dominated almost every game of the finals, even though Game 5 was more of a team effort for the Heat. Six players scored more than 10 points, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron had more than 20 each, and Mike Miller was the pleasant surprise of the last game in OKC.
LeBron had 26 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out 13 assists to close out the deal with a stunning triple-double. This epic close-out performance was the icing on James’ finals cake. During the series he averaged 28.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game. If that is not is not enough to make you like LBJ then.. I really don’t know what is. He elevated his game even more this year, throughout the entire season, playoffs and the NBA finals and he totally deserved to take home the finals MVP.
What’s next? New season, new expectations, a lot of trades and an exciting draft. I’m pretty sure the Thunder will be even better next year, let’s see is LeBron and the Heat can keep playing at this level.
