Instances Where Eating Less Does Not Equal Losing Weight!

Going on a diet is the most common action people do in order to lose weight. Most people would eat less than what y normally eat, sometimes not even eating at all, just to lose pounds. However, it is not as simple as it sounds. Dieting is not the best way to lose excess weight. In fact, it can even do more harm to your body than good. Eating less does not necessarily mean that you will lose fats and achieve the weight that you have been longing for. Here are some instances where eating less does not equal losing weight.

Eating Less

You lose muscle, not fats.

The number one misconception with regards to weight loss is what you actually lose in the process of dieting. Food is a source of energy that the body needs to function. In order for your body to move, you will need a source of energy. Without food, your body won’t be able to catch up. So what they do instead, they start to slow down your body. In order to do that, specific enzymes start burning the muscle tissues because the body fat, a source of energy, is the better option that the body needs in order to function.

Less consumption of food equals additional fat reserves.

When a person does not eat for long periods of time, the body has to adjust. If one eats breakfast on a daily basis and suddenly stops abruptly, the metabolism rate will go haywire. In this case, the metabolism slows down a bit and therefore it needs more energy to function normally. Since that is the circumstance, it must have reserves of energy to continue functioning. The less food you eat, the more fats get stored for emergencies. Your metabolic rate is the key to unlocking how much fats will be stored and how much will be thrown out.

Losing weight by eating less is not healthy.

Losing weight by depriving yourself from food will just mess up the digestive system’s cycle. Your stomach won’t be able to digest anything, which makes it rather dormant. Sometimes, heartburn can also be caused by skipping meals. The acid that is supposed to digest the food particles have nothing to digest. This causes the body to adjust with your new routine. But if it gets out of hand, the acid will climb up to your heart and give you heartburn.
