Fernando Alonso won the British Grand Prix yesterday at Silverstone claiming Ferrari’s first victory of the season in a pretty boring race. The victory was exactly on the 60th anniversary of Ferrari’s first success in Formula One in the same circuit making this win a bit more interesting.
Sebastian Vettel could have won the race but he was slowed by a wheelnut problem and was overtaken by Alonso in the last part of race, finishing on the 2nd place just ahead of his team mate, Mark Webber. The Aussie driver from Red Bull tried to pass his team mate on the last lap of the race and then he was told to maintain his position.
Probably the most entertaining man on track was Lewis Hamilton who roared from 10th on the grid to fourth, banging bodywork in a great battle with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa who was forced to go wide at the final corner and lost the fourth spot for just a tenth of a second.
Other drivers who scored points at Silverstone were Nico Rosberg, Sergio Perez, Nick Heidfelt, Michael Schumacher and Jaime Alguersuari. That’s all we had to say about the 2011 Silverstone GP.
