Caroll Shelby owned this 1969 Shelby GT500

Remember the GT 500 from Gone in 60 Seconds? Well, if you think that was cool check out this 1969 Shelby GT500; it’s godlike! These cars are considered quite rare, but such models can become more expensive than a house depending on specs and features, among other details, such as previous owners.

For example, the muscle car depicted above is just one of eighteen finished in Grabber Yellow; furthermore, this Shelby is one of only three built with a 3.50 Traction-Lok rear axle. These details alone grants this car the status of instant collectible, but this yellow snake has an ace up its hood: Carroll Shelby owned and drove it until 2003. That’s right, the legend himself!

Its current owner restored the vehicle perfectly – most of the parts were original Ford OEM factory –  after a 10 years meticulous process and it comes with full documentation and paperwork dating back to 1969; only 4,317 miles were driven behind hit Shelby GT 500’s steering wheel Caroll Shelby signed off a copy of the California release of liability.

This unique piece of history will be auctioned through Mecum Auctions in Monterey next month and no matter the price tag – which I bet will be quite impressive – I am completely, undeniably sure it’s worth it!
