Here’s the thing: When it comes to dating, the first few ones are the most critical because they set the tone for what the rest of the relationship (if there will be one) will be like.
There are a ton of good things that can happen on your date but there are more things that can go wrong if you’re not too careful. So to prep you for your night out with her, we’re going to let you in on the most common dating mistakes men commit— and how to avoid them.
5. That phone, that wretched phone
Gone are the days where people purely interact. Now, there’s always a phone in the picture and in this case, you need to toss that thing away, so far away that it’s out of your sight. It’s annoying and the only message you’re giving her is that whatever it is your fiddling with in your phone is far more important than her— that drop dead gorgeous woman right in front of you.
4. Asking question then losing interest
You know how you ask her, “So what is it like working in an ad firm?” and once she answers, all of a sudden you zone out? It’s far more obvious than you think. She will notice the lack of interest on your face and it’s quite a shame, really because you’re the one who asked the question in the first place.
So do us all a favor and give her 100% of your attention. Besides, it’s also going to help you cook up the next question.
3. Putting on an act
We get it. Dates are absolutely nerve wracking that sometimes we end up tapping our Freudian tendencies to put up a defensive mechanism, one that we consider putting on an act.
Never be someone you’re not. Don’t ever think a few punch lines will get you a lasting and meaningful relationship with a woman. Start on the right foot by being who you are. She will appreciate you for it.
2. Talking about an ex/ a bad date
Never, ever talk about your ex or badmouth a date when you’re out with her. This part of the date is considered as trashy office gossip that should never exist in the first place.
When you talk about a horrible date you were previously on, you’re giving the lady the idea that this date you’re on is about to become a future anecdote for the next one you’re going to be on. When you talk about your ex or her ex because you both might end up missing your ex’s by the end of the night.
1. Not having a plan
Sure we’re all about spontaneity and pleasant surprises BUT not having a plan, especially on the first three dates is a recipe for disaster. You know how we drive ourselves into a corner with the exchanges, ‘How are you?, ‘I’m fine and you?’? This is the same once you ask her, ‘So where do you want to go?’
It’s a dreadful situation no one wants to be in. It’s better to say, ‘I was thinking of checking out this new Italian place because I heard it was great, unless you prefer something else?’
This tells women that you are decisive and in control, which really does tickle every bit of feminist sensibility they have in their being.
So are you ready to sweep her off her feet or be swept under the rug?
